Gate Services
Dawson Media Direct

DMD has pioneered the effective use of gate services, providing each flight with a targeted choice of self-service reading materials at the gate, freeing up cabin crew and reducing pressure on ground staff. DMD currently operates Gate Services in 89 airports in 31 countries and the service is growing all the time.

Targeted to each flight
The DMD Gate Service uses mobile units to provide the right mix of reading material for the right flight. Just like Inflight Services, newspapers and magazines can be chosen for each individual flight based on the passenger profile; the airline branded display unit is then stocked accordingly before being wheeled to the appropriate gate before the flight is called.

Passenger satisfaction on the ground
By giving out complimentary reading materials at the gate, passengers become occupied with reading, reducing demands on ground staff, alleviating stresses in the case of short delays and improving the overall pre-flight and take-off experience for the passenger.

Improved efficiency in the air

Onboard, cabin staff have more time for other duties. SAS Inflight manager for newspaper and magazine purchase and distribution, Brigitta Iohnson Lamm says:

“It makes life easier for both our passengers and our cabin crew who can invest more time on the remaining onboard services we offer our passengers.”
